At 5:00pm the Friends of the Woodsock Library will present the Library Forum - Robert Burke Warren in concert. Free Admission. Warren has written songs with Roseanne Cash, played bass with the Fleshtones and played the lead in the London production of "Buddy: the Buddy Holly Story." Warren cautions that this is a show for adults and that he will not show up in his alter ego of Uncle Rock. He says he will perform songs from his CDs and some new material, plus reading some essays about his life in music. He asks that "the little kids" not come because, "if you're unfamiliar with my non-Uncle Rock material-both poetry and music-then please know that it contains, as they say in the movie ratings, 'adult themes and language.'"
At 7:00pm Live at the Library, an acoustic music series, will present Peggy Atwood, Bruce Ackerman and Mighty Xee. Free Admission.Veteran folk-rocker/singer-songwriter PEGGY ATWOOD plays frequently in theHudson Valley where she resides, and is well-known for her passionate andenergizing performances. Raised the daughter of a military diplomat, PeggyAtwood traveled the world from the day she was born, experiencing manycultures and being exposed to many styles of music. These experiences arereflected in the international, environmental and multidimensional imagesthat abound in her unique and personal style of writing, which blendsfolk/world/rock/new age influences. Her most recent CD, “Renegade of theLight Brigade” lies somewhere in the shadows of lost love and a lion waitingfor the cool of the evening.
BRUCE ACKERMAN needs no introduction in this Community. He's a truerenaissance man - a visual artist who also handcrafts guitars and plays withawesome finger-picking style.
MIGHTY XEE has been writing songs for 46 years; music straight from theheart, for the soul. Her sound is a blend of influences, informed by rock,blues, traditional folk and world music. She has played in venues fromstreet singing in Paris (with her baby daughter on her back), to BobSherman's Show on WQXR Radio Station of the New York Times and CAMNET'sSouthwestern Cable TV and numerous local clubs.
